Deriving their name from the lands in Ayrshire where they were settled from earliest times, the Logans played a key role in the struggle for Scotland’s freedom and independence.

Following the death of Robert the Bruce in 1329, Sir Walter Logan was one of his trusted knights tasked with a mission to place his embalmed heart before the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

 A noted family dynasty of entertainers include the later singer Ella Logan and her nephew the comedian, actor and theatre owner Jimmy Logan, who died in 2001.
