Born in Yorkshire, Sir Owen Richardson was the British physicist who won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1928 for his work on thermionic emission – the emission of electricity from hot bodies – and which became known as Richardson’s Law.
Born in 1928 in Shipley, Yorkshire, Cecil Antonio Richardson was the award-winning theatre and film director and producer better known as Tony Richardson.
The recipient of two Academy Awards – for Best Director and Best Picture for the 1963 Tom Jones, it was through his marriage to the actress Vanessa Redgrave, that he was the father of the actresses Natasha and Joely Richardson.
