A name almost interchangeable with its spelling variant of ‘Grey’, ‘Gray’ has been present from the earliest times.
Some of the name achieved high honours and distinction, but often at great cost to themselves – notably the tragic figure of the sixteenth century Lady Jane Grey, known to posterity as “The Nine Days’ Queen.”
