House of Edgar Supplier Spotlight

Posted by Collaborator on

On this windy Wednesday, we’d like to introduce you to another one of our favourites. It would be surprising if you hadn’t heard of this brilliant company on your kilt buying adventures. For this week’s Supplier Spotlight, we present; The House of Edgar.
Offering a very flexible and personalised service, The House of Edgar are an exceptional weaver and manufacturer. Originally established in Edinburgh in the 1800’s they established themselves as a supplier of various fabrics to the cities tailors. Upon being sold in 1965 by William Edgar, the company only had around 24 tartans. 5 and a half decades later that number has risen to staggeringly to over 1000 individual tartans, ranging from Scottish clans to Irish counties.
Located in Perth, The House of Edgar specialise in the rigorous tartan making process. With the previously mentioned range of tartans, as well as weights and compositions there’s a lot to work with! They make sure that all their tartans are perfect.
However, if we only focused on tartan, we would be doing them a disservice. Tartans only scratch the surface with The House of Edgar! With all that tartan at their disposal, they provide all the accessories for the full kilt outfit. It doesn’t stop there. They offer a wide range of ties, beautiful scarves to get a heat in you on the colder days, and the opposite, hats for the sunny days! For the dancer, they create fabulous plaids catered to accompany many outfits.
Specialising in the whole suit, they offer brilliant jackets made from 100% pure wool for a light touch and a jacket that will stand the test of time. Crails and clunies, even Bonnie Prince Charlies, in beautiful colours that will make you stand out at your next wedding or event.

Recently we worked alongside the fine folks at The House of Edgar to create a new school tie and lambswool scarf for Inverurie Academy. We liaised with the academy to create and design the tartan, then forwarded the design to The House of Edgar for the tartan to be woven in both traditional tartan and lambswool blend. We are very happy with the finished tartan ties and lambswool scarves, and they can now be seen all over Inverurie and are available for purchase direct from Inverurie Academy .

They truly are a brilliant company and with arrange as wide as theirs, you’ll be sure to find something to your liking. We’re very proud to stock them and our customer feedback on their range has been outstanding. Routinely selling out of their products, we’re always on the phone with them needing some more stock!
We here at Kilts Wi Hae really do love The House of Edgar and that’s why we’d like give the exclusive offer of 10% off the full range in store and online by using the code EDGAR10 at the checkout. Find the full range at the link below.
