While we all try to stay as busy as possible to stave off the waves of boredom that have washed over us the past few weeks, its been shown that one of the activities that’s been done the most is a bit of home improvement! While we’re not away to turn into B&Q and start selling paint and wallpaper, what we can offer you is some of our favourite homeware items to bring an extra special bit of flair and give your house a nice finishing touch to your improvements! In short, we want to help you brighten up your home!
.
We’re going to start with some animal magic with the works of Dawn Maciocia! Scottish prints made from torn paper and ink, beautifully printed onto a variety of different products. For around the home we would recommend the pillows. The colours of her designs are extremely eye catching and brighten up any home! Take a looksie here!

Now we head to the kitchen for another of our favourites! Orkney Storehouse is renowned for their fine bone china and kitchenware. Their products come tastefully decorated with stunning artwork of 1 of 6 Orkney native animals, painted by Tim Wootton. All of the Orkney Storehouse products are built to last and the designs against the white backgrounds make the art really pop! Have peek here!

Staying with the kitchen, AE Williams’ various drinking glasses range from shot to wine. The glasses themselves are bound by stunning pewter designs. AE Williams have been going since 1779 and are the oldest family run pewtersmiths in the world! We don’t mean to namedrop, but their glasses and more have been used in some big budget productions like Harry Potter, Blackadder, Titanic and Game of Thrones just to name a few! See our full range here!

If you’re looking for something truly different, take a look at the thermometer range from Nauticalia!  These distinctive ornamental and functional thermometers utilise 17th century astronomer Galileo Galilei's discovery that the density of liquids varies with temperature. Carefully weighted glass globes are suspended in a liquid-filled tube, where they sedately sink or float as the surrounding air gets hotter or colder. See them here!
