Hire Tartan Spotlight - Flower Of Scotland

A tartan for all, based on a glorious anthem... Read on to find out more about Flower Of Scotland!

The Flower of Scotland tartan was crafted around 1989 by the House of Edgar to honour Roy Williamson of The Corries, the composer and lyricist of Scotland’s beloved unofficial national anthem, "The Flower of Scotland." The design is categorized as a district tartan and notably draws on the sett of the ancient Gunn tartan, which Williamson himself wore.

The colour palette is rich in symbolism: light blue and green evoke the bluebell and the thistle, respectively. Floral emblems deeply entwined with Scottish identity. Created as a tribute to the national song, the tartan’s design masterfully weaves together threads of Scotland’s floral and musical heritage, seamlessly embodying both national pride and artistic homage.

This tartan pairs very well with a dark jacket to contrast the lighter tones. Our midnight or charcoal crail jackets are a perfect accompaniment. If you'd rather keep things light, then why not opt for a green jacket?

In terms of accessories, a tartan tie can look striking against a white shirt. Alternatively, there is always block colour ties like our sage or sky blue that will keep things nice and light.
