Andrew McGavin Supplier Spotlight

Posted by HulkApps.com Collaborator on

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s Supplier Spotlight time! Today we travel to the West Highlands. To the place that Visit Scotland describes, accurately, as the outdoor capital of the UK. Fort William. A true example of the beauty of Scotland, combining mountain and loch to create breath-taking imagery that has to be seen to be believed. Fort William is home to Andrew McGavin, who we’ll be looking at this week!

The beautiful Fort William
.
Andrew McGavin’s small Fort William business specialises in hand crafted gifts utilising ancient Celtic designs. Most of the designs take their main inspiration from Dark Age stone carvings. Celtic art meets modern techniques in his work and come together to create a plethora of gifts that would look great in any Scottish household.
.
From start...
.
One of the better aspects of Andrew’s business is that he basically goes it alone. From conception to shipment. It’s all him. An exceptionally hard worker. This personal touch makes all of his products all the more special. The Celtic design is one of mystery. Given its ancient roots we know little about what they mean. The unknowing nature is what has given popularity to its use across the world in many forms.
.
...To finish!
.
Currently our main stock of Andrew McGavin’s work consists of his wall plaques. These plaques are strung ready to hang and come with individual descriptive notes about the original stone. The colours of these plaques are totally individual due to the hand casting process used and give a very realistic natural stone effect. These stone effect cast resin wall plaques are designed for use inside and out, they are very durable and will withstand extremes of weather easily. Personally, the best places we’ve seen them hung are in hallways and they always invite discussion from guests!
.
.
According to the Andrew McGavin website, there are only around 19 stockists of his fine works and we’re proud to be one of them! And even happier to be one of the only two in the Aberdeen area! He’s a truly lovely guy and we love to show support to independent businesses, especially in times like these!
