Two Skies Supplier Spotlight

Two Skies Supplier Spotlight

.
We’re just days away from the seasons changing and that means a change in fashion! Summer blouses, baseball caps they’re all out! The weather’s going to get colder and big cosy jumpers will be in! This week we’ll be looking at a great supplier of jewellery who has designs that work beautifully with the autumnal weather. Today we’ll be looking at Two Skies!
.
.
Two Skies came to being in 2003 and was the brainchild of Adam McIntosh. Born in Scotland and raised in Papua New Guinea he eventually made his way back to Scotland with aims to travel the world. On his adventures he would find his true calling. Gaining the name ‘Two Skies’ by native tribesmen, he continued his travels collecting precious stones from many different places and encounters. Opal offcuts in Australia, turquoise from Native Americans to name a few.
.
.
Returning to Edinburgh, he had gathered enough to fill a wheelbarrow, which he sold them from! From there the business has become much larger, including stalls, silversmiths and finally a shop on the Royal Mile!
.
.
Closer to home, Two Skies uses sustainable natural resources to create amazing jewellery from Scottish gemstones. These include; marble from the islands of Isles of Iona, Skye and the Highlands, red jasper from the Fife coast, slate pyrite from the isle of Easdale, garnets from Ruby bay in Fife, agates from Ayrshire and finally quartz and amethyst.
.
.
As well as gemstones, Two Skies also specialise in “Forever Leaves”. These are real leaves cast in precious metals! Hand picked leaves are dried then have the chlorophyll removed. After this they are painted with conductive paint and finally plated with a precious metal such as gold. As close as jewellery can be to nature!
.
.
At Kilts Wi Hae, we absolutely love the beautiful works of Two Skies! Sustainability is paramount in this day and age and jewellery created with the environment in mind is becoming much more prevalent and Two Skies is a prime example of how beautiful it can be. You can find the full range here but they’re selling fast so be quick. More coming soon!
