Entertaining The Kids!

Posted by HulkApps.com Collaborator on

You might be finding, like many other people at the moment, you're stuck at home with the kids without a clue how to keep them entertained. Annoyingly, it looks like we're in this for the long haul so here's some ideas we've had that can turn those hours upon hours of being driven up the wall into fun family time!
We'll begin with some arts and crafts. We've all been out walking and seen the brilliant pieces of art displayed in everyone's windows. They really brighten up the day! How about taking it 1 step further...
Get a piece of cardboard and cut it into an arch. Then get some coloured tissue paper, crunch it up and glue it to the carboard in the shape of a rainbow!
.
Bet your wee ones can do better! 😁
.
Sticking with crafts, on your walk if you find some big rocks or pebbles then take them home with you. Once your back, get the paints out and paint some lovely pictures on the rocks! Now that they're all beautified, dot them around your walking route for people to see! We've seen a lot of these in the wooded areas around Newmachar and the surrounding area, they're really lovely to look at! Take some photos and share them on Facebook for people to find.
.
Try using warm colours like reds, yellows and oranges so they stick out on the ground or in the trees!
.
Have you got a roll of old wallpaper lying about? Don't lie we all do! If you're not planning on using it why not let the kids make good use of it? Take the roll, roll it out on the floor, get your kids to lie on it and then draw around them. Cut out the 'wallpaper person' and then let their imagination run wild! They can turn themselves into a superhero or a skeleton!
.
Or what's inside? You can draw whatever you want!
.
There are loads more great crafty ideas, hand painting, sock puppets, button art, but what about soaking up some of these rays and doing some outside activities? First things first remember some sun screen if you're doing things outside at the mo'. It's boiling! Now, here's one for the kids who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty! Why not try and make a bug hotel for your garden? At this time of year, our gardens are teeming with wee beasties, creepy crawlies and flying critters. They need somewhere to live so you could make them some accommodation! The RSPB has a full guide on how to make one here.
.
Reservation for 2? It's under Mr. & Mrs. Caterpillar.
.
Now it's time to let the kids loose with some chalk! Get some chalk and let them make the driveway or the slabs in the back garden a bit more lively. Plus that's at least an hour of them out of your hair! 😂
.
Just wipe your shoes if you step over it, don't want that on the cream carpet!
.
Lastly, you might've noticed when you wake up that you hear a lot more birds tweeting. With a lot less cars going about of a morning then they can get a word in edgewise! Pay them back by making them a wee snack! Take an empty plastic milk bottle, cut a large hole in it for the birds to get in and out of, decorate it and then hang it from a tree and fill with either water or bird seed. Voila, buffet!
.
Not exactly Eat on The Green but you get what you pay for!
.
Lastly, some things you can do in the kitchen. If they don't know already, give them a head start and teach them how to cook! BBC Good Food has a heap of things you can cook for tea with the kids. Find them here!
.
You'll easy get them eating their greens if it looks like this!
.
If you want to give the kids a proper treat, then you should definitely check out Tasty. You'll have definitely seen their recipe videos on Facebook! From no-bake chewy Oreo bars to berry ice pops, you'll fins something for everyone. Take a look at their recipes here!
.
Fine!
.
We hope that we've given you some fun great ideas for you and the kids to spend the time while we're all otherwise occupied! If you decide to try out any of these ideas then we'd love to see the end results! Tag us in a post on Facebook or send us a message! We'll feature it for audience to see. 😊
