This week we journey further south and turn to fashion! Our Supplier Spotlight this week is Barrhead Leather!
Barrhead Leather are based in Glasgow and create high quality products by using wild Scottish deer skin leather and Harris Tweed. For 15 years the products they provide have been handmade to a high standard and have been a great seller here in the shop for a long time! Priding themselves on providing a truly well made product that can stand the test of time and stay in the family for many years.
Once again we’re presenting to you all a product of true uniqueness. The amount of tanneries in Scotland has dropped dramatically from the days of old. The demand has lessened but Barrhead Leather strives to become one of the most standout companies that still work with leather. Producing a completely new demand in itself. Nowadays there are less than half a dozen tanneries left in Scotland and Barrhead Leather are the sole processors of wild Scottish deerskin. Being one of the last few remaining Scottish tanneries, this means that they really do set the bar (and they set it high!) on deerskin products.
All their products are incredibly durable as shown by their long life. The Harris Tweed range encompasses a broad range of colours and will truly make you stand out in a crowd! Currently we have many bags on display in the shop but it doesn’t just stop at that bags! Sporrans and hip flasks are among some of the other great products they lovingly craft and we happily stock!
The skin for the deer is completely traceable and is collected from estates by the use of fully trained, registered stalkers, monitored by the Deer Commission for Scotland.
