This week for our Supplier Spotlight, we’re venturing further than we ever have…London. What were you expecting? Milan? Paris? Moscow? No we’re headed to the UK capital for one of our great suppliers and another top seller! This week we take a look at Alexander Thurlow! Fine purveyors of jewellery, scarves and more!

Alexander Thurlow’s story starts with the titular founder, Alexander Thurlow Senior. Before setting up the business, he had originally been an agent for a company in Germany that imported fashion jewellery from Czechoslovakia. The outbreak of the Second World War put a stop to that. Alexander Senior decided to go it on his own buying exclusively from British manufacturers

After the War, Alexander Thurlow Senior was joined by his son, Alexander Thurlow! He worked for a year with his father aged 16 then went on to study at a business school in Switzerland followed by two years of national service and then in 1950 he joined the business for good! He and his father moved to Cowcross Street in London in 1960 and the business stayed there until 1990 when it moved to its current residence at Ernest Avenue. Stephen Alexander Thurlow, Alexander’s son, joined in ’79 and with the family growing it stays in its capable hands!

The Alexander Thurlow business itself has continued to grow and grow! A constant stream of new buyers and suppliers has ensured that they thrive and provide for people all over the country and the world.

Specialising mainly in scarves and jewellery, they have a huge range of both! Some of our favourites include their poppy ranges. Beautifully drawn and a huge seller! We usually see them go as fast as they come in!

We’re also very fond of Alexander Thurlow’s matching sets of earrings and necklaces! Great for occasions or just socialising!
