With their chieftains inaugurated on the site of what is thought to have been a Druid temple, the Reillys are linked through colourful myth and legend to some of Ireland’s great heroic figures.

Brave defenders of their ancient rights and privileges, they were inextricably linked with both the island’s great fortunes and tragic misfortunes. In more peaceful times and in the world of music, Dublin-born Paddy Reilly is the Irish folk singer, guitarist and former member of the band The Dubliners renowned for his interpretations of the haunting ballads The Fields of Athenry and The Town I Loved So Well.

Born in Glasgow, Maggie Reilly is the Scottish singer famed for her collaboration in the early 1980s with the composer Mike Oldfield on what have become the classics, Moonlight Shadow and Family Man.

The bold and stirring lives and times of the Reillys of both yesteryear and today are chronicled here.
