Across the Atlantic from the original Kelly homeland of Ireland, Gene Kelly, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1912, was the actor, singer, dancer, choreographer, director and producer best known as a major star of the silver screen.

Named by the American Film Institute as among the greatest male stars of all time, he is famed to this day for his performance in the 1952 movie Singin’ in The Rain, while his first film role was beside Judy Garland in the 1942 For Me and My Gal.
