Lang Syne English Family Information History Fact Book - Evans

George Evans was the early nineteenth century English surveyor who explored vast regions of New South Wales, while Dr Gwynfor Evans was the leading light of Plaid Cymru – the Party of Wales – and who in 1906 became its first member to represent it in Parliament.

In the world of literature Mary Ann Evans was the pen name of the great English novelist better known by her pen name of George Eliot, while Welsh-born Dr Lyn Evans is the scientist who since 1994 has been leader of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project on the Franco-Swiss border.
