Lang Syne Welsh Family Clan Information History Fact Book - Pugh

A name particularly associated with Montgomeryshire, one of the thirteen historic counties of Wales, ‘Pugh’ features prominently in the Welsh historical record.

Many Pughs were on the frontline of invasion from the Anglo-Saxons and, later, the Anglo-Normans, while in more peaceful times many have gained fame in the worlds of the stage, art, sport and music.

A leading West End and Broadway theatre producer, along with his business partner Dafydd Rogers, David Pugh was born in London in 1959; the recipients of a host of awards, their many stage productions include Art, The Blues Brothers, The Full Monty and Calendar Girls. In the world of sport, Richie Pugh is the Wales international rugby union player who was part of the team that won the Melrose Cup at the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens, while clubs he has played for include the Ospreys and the Scarlets.
